Troy Buswell buys Busselton Jetty pass- Busselton Dunsborough Times

VASSE MLA Troy Buswell has joined the growing number of locals buying an annual adult pass for the Busselton Jetty.

The pass will entitle him to unlimited access to the jetty throughout the year.

Jetty CEO, Darryl Green, thanked Mr Buswell for his contribution and said he hoped this would help remind the local community that there was no need for regular jetty users to pay the $2.50 entry fee each time they used the jetty.

"The jetty committee have made these passes available to ensure that the local community can have unlimited access to it for a nominal annual fee each year,” Mr Green said.

"An annual pass for an adult costs only $60, which equates to just over a dollar per week and a pensioner pass is only $30, which is only 58 cents a week. If a pensioner uses the jetty on average twice a week throughout the year, the cost is only 29 cents a visit.

"We hope the local community thinks this represents very good value to use an asset that has a $50 million replacement cost and a maintenance cost in excess of $1 million per year.

"While the State Government’s generous contribution of $24 million has enabled the 20 year restoration process to be completed, the reality is that we still need to find $1 million each year to keep the jetty in its current condition.

"We are fortunate that the Underwater Observatory and train can provide most of this revenue, which enables us to make these discounted passes available to the local community.”

He said annual jetty entry passes were available at the Interpretive Centre and entitled access to the jetty at all times during the year.
